[W]hat would have happened if Robin failed to escape apprenticeship under Slade...?

Ever since the name 'Slade' reached Robin's ears, he became obsessed with finding out who the man was and what his plans were. Sending out HIVE members to squash the Teen Titans, then using Thunder and Lightning to set the city afire was nothing to take lightly.

The Titan took his hunt for Slade a step further by becoming Red X, a ruthless thief, in attempt to discover what the man's plans were. Robin's plan failed and almost enabled Slade to get away with the chips that 'Red X' stole in order to gain his trust.

Then... the final straw. A chronoton detonator was set up to lure the Titans to Slade. In their search, Robin was separated from his team by Cinderblock; the boy wonder made his teammates go after the speedboat with the detonator while he fought the criminal. He took him down and also got a lock on Slade's location. He followed it. In the attempt to take the switch that would trigger the detonator from Slade, they ensued in a fight... only for Robin to discover that there was no detonator. It was all just a trap. His friends were blasted with a turret that injected probes into their bodies-- cloaked to prevent detection by the Titans. In turn order to keep them alive, Robin had no choice but to agree to become Slade's apprentice.

All of his attempts to warn his friends or to get away from Slade had failed. He ran upon the Nexus one day and was only able to hide that he'd been visiting the place to find a way to defeat Slade for so long.

He's currently being forced to report on the Nexus-- to learn more about it and record who he's met and what things lie there...
